Leadership Descriptions: External Affairs Liaison

The External Affairs Liaison (EAL) has the duty and opportunity to work specifically with NCSC’s partners to better equip NCSC in providing its members a voice, vision, network, resource and partner.  The Liaison’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Appointed by discernment of the previous year’s Executive Board
  • Serves a one-year term (from the conclusion of the annual Leadership Conference to the end of the next Conference), plus one month for transitioning.  May also be invited to attend the first National Team meeting for the post-term year and serves as an ex-officio member of the Executive Board for that next year
  • May serve only one one-year term as EAL, and subsequent to that term, may not serve any further terms as a Regional or Standing Committee Chair on the Executive Board
  • Non-voting member of the Executive Board
  • Assists in setting up quarterly face-to-face Board meetings and monthly conference calls of the Executive Board
  • Attends quarterly face-to-face Board meetings and prepares reports
  • Participates in monthly Executive Board conference calls
  • Is a motivational and spiritual leader for the Team
  • Creates an External Affairs Chair Binder and/or electronic file to pass on each year
  • Communicates weekly with the National Chair
  • Communicates weekly through e-mail with the Executive Board
  • Communicates specifically with the liaisons from the following organizations/cohorts on a monthly basis: Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA), National Association of Diocesan Directors of Campus Ministry (NADDCM), United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the NCSC Alumni and NCSC Vocation liaisons
  • Attends CCMA face-to-face meetings (Spring & Fall) & monthly conference calls
  • Coordinates with the Steering Committee for planning of CCMA convention
  • Assists NADDCM liaison with any outreach endeavors
  • Attends NADCCM conference calls
  • Maintains current information to provide accurate and competent information to members of the Alliance
  • Attends all Alliance meetings as a consultant from the NCSC (May & November)
  • Maintains contact with the Executive Director of the USCCB Office of Catholic Education
  • Monitors new alumni membership, with assistance of office staff
  • Monthly communication with Alumni liaison
  • Maintains an alumni database, with the assistance of the alumni liaison
  • Works with conference coordinator and alumni liaison to include an alumni reception at the Annual Leadership Conference
  • Monthly communication with the Executive Director of the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC)
  • Assists in promoting the Annual Leadership Conference within vocations
  • Establishes monthly prayer written by vocation directors to send through NCSC-L
  • With the assistance of the International Relations Chair, partners with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)
  • With the assistance of the Membership Chair, develops an ongoing relationship with the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), and Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) to outreach to Catholic and Jesuit colleges and universities
